|Family Fun Night
Save the date! The PTA will be having our first community “Family Fun Night” on Friday, April 14th from 6-7:30pm. A pasta dinner will be provided free of charge while supplies last, and we will be having a fun night of Kids vs. Adults Minute-it-win-it games! This is not a dropoff event, and all kids must be with adults for the event. Check out the flyer on our website for more information. We hope to see you there!
We also are in need of lots of volunteers to pull off this fun night. We have two sign-up sheets: one for high schoolers needing volunteer hours and one for parents/guardians. If you or your high schooler can take a shift, please sign-up! Students will get 2 hours of volunteer time for this event.
Our April hot lunch will be from Riccardo’s on April 14th. You can still purchase the April hot lunch on our website until April 4th. This is an earlier lunch than usual, so please make note of the earlier date!
STC Offers Summer Scholarships:
The Schaumburg Township Council of PTAs (STC) is once again offering scholarships for District 54 students who wish to broaden their education, talents and experiences in summer programs and camps. Students are eligible to apply if they are currently in kindergarten through seventh grade and if they have a parent or guardian who is a current PTA member at the school the child attends. Click here for more information and to access the PTA Scholarship Applications. The application is due by Friday, April 7, 2023. Scholarships will be awarded for the full cost of the program up to $125. Parents/guardians are responsible for registering their children for the camps and then the PTA will forward the scholarship checks directly to the summer program.
Summer Camp Scholarships Available
As part of its commitment to life-long learning, the Schaumburg Township Council of PTAs (STC) offers scholarships for summer programs/camps to District 54 students currently in Kindergarten through 7th grade who wish to broaden their education, talents and experiences.
**Please note the parent/guardian must be a current PTA member at the school attended by the child applying for the scholarship.**
You are responsible for registering your child for the camp/program indicated. Registration is recommended to ensure your child secures a spot. If you wait to see if your child is awarded a scholarship before registering, your child runs the risk of the program being full or cancelled. Please make sure you register by May 20th. This must be a summer camp or program completed by Labor Day. If your camp/program is cancelled contact us with an eligible alternative within the same organization.
Click these links to access the application: English version, Spanish version
**The application and supporting documents are due April 7, 2023.**
5 Essential Survey
Once again we are reaching out to our families and asking you to participate in the annual Illinois 5Essentials Survey to provide us with your perspective and help guide our school improvement efforts. The parent survey will be available online through March 31, 2023, at survey.5-essentials.org/Illinois.
The survey takes about 10 minutes to complete and is available in English and Spanish. Note: the survey will time out and you will need to start over if you don’t finish in one sitting.
If you have more than one child, you may complete the survey for each child. You will be asked to select your county and then your child’s school. Be aware that there are often schools with the same or similar names in the state of Illinois.
The state is not providing hard copies of this survey. If you do not have access to a computer, you can visit the Schaumburg Township District Library or call your child’s school and we will let you use a computer at the school to take the survey.
The survey is administered by UChicago Impact at the University of Chicago on behalf of the Illinois State Board of Education. If at least 20 percent of parents at a school complete the survey, a supplemental parent report will be generated and shared with schools. We are hoping to meet the target this year in our schools.
Do you have a child who will be starting school in August 2023? If you do and would like support with registering, we are here to help! You are invited to join us at any of the sites listed below. Staff will be available to help you complete the form and answer any questions you may have.
