Eighth Grade Highlights:

We are excited to announce that this year’s event will be held from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Sunday, May 21, 2023 at Wintrust Field, also known as the Schaumburg Boomers Stadium.

In order to accommodate all families, we will be limiting each family to six tickets. Students will sit on the field with their classmates, while families will sit in the stands. In the event of rain, we will hold our graduation ceremony on Monday, May 22, at 6:00 p.m. at Hoffman High School.

A livestream of the event will be posted to the District 54 YouTube Channel for individuals who are unable to be there that day. All students’ names will be read during the ceremony, whether or not they attend.

In order to create a memorable experience, we would like to start by asking you to complete this quick Graduation Ceremony Survey by Monday, April 3, to determine which students will be participating and how many tickets you will need.

If your child is participating in the ceremony at Wintrust Field, they will be asked to order a gown in our school colors. 8th grade families have already ordered gowns.

Thank you for your quick response to this survey. Please continue to read my weekly emails as I will continue to share additional information this spring about graduation and other end-of-the-year celebrations.                                                                                                                     Graduation Ticket Survey

In order to participate in the ceremony the School Board has established the following policies:

In order for an eighth grade student to participate in the graduation ceremony, he/she must complete all academic assignments one week prior to the graduation ceremony.

It will be the student’s responsibility to turn in all late or missing assignments.  Failure to turn in even one assignment will cause the student to be excluded from the graduation ceremony.  Beginning April 06, we will be setting up mandatory after school homework support for students missing 5 or more assignments. Mandatory after school homework support will be on the following dates: 04/06, 04/11, 04/13, 04/18, 04/20, 04/25, 04/27, 05/02, 05/04, 05/09, 05/11, 05/16.

Extreme inappropriate behavior may cause a student to be excluded from graduation ceremonies and/or 8th grade activities at the discretion of the school administrators.

Summer Camp Scholarships Available

As part of its commitment to life-long learning, the Schaumburg Township Council of PTAs (STC) offers scholarships for summer programs/camps to District 54 students currently in Kindergarten through 7th grade who wish to broaden their education, talents and experiences.

**Please note the parent/guardian must be a current PTA member at the school attended by the child applying for the scholarship.**

You are responsible for registering your child for the camp/program indicated. Registration is recommended to ensure your child secures a spot.  If you wait to see if your child is awarded a scholarship before registering, your child runs the risk of the program being full or cancelled. Please make sure you register by May 20th.   This must be a summer camp or program completed by Labor Day.  If your camp/program is cancelled contact us with an eligible alternative within the same organization.

Click these links to access the application: English version,  Spanish version

**The application and supporting documents are due April 7, 2023.**

5 Essential Survey

Once again we are reaching out to our families and asking you to participate in the annual Illinois 5Essentials Survey to provide us with your perspective and help guide our school improvement efforts. The parent survey will be available online through March 31, 2023, at survey.5-essentials.org/Illinois

The survey takes about 10 minutes to complete and is available in English and Spanish. Note: the survey will time out and you will need to start over if you don’t finish in one sitting.

If you have more than one child, you may complete the survey for each child. You will be asked to select your county and then your child’s school. Be aware that there are often schools with the same or similar names in the state of Illinois.

The state is not providing hard copies of this survey. If you do not have access to a computer, you can visit the Schaumburg Township District Library or call your child’s school and we will let you use a computer at the school to take the survey.

The survey is administered by UChicago Impact at the University of Chicago on behalf of the Illinois State Board of Education. If at least 20 percent of parents at a school complete the survey, a supplemental parent report will be generated and shared with schools. We are hoping to meet the target this year in our schools.
