Principal’s Message

Dear Eisenhower Families,

Today Eisenhower spent time setting up the students for success to end the 2nd trimester with completing any missing assignments.  Please check your parent portal for any missing work.   The extended weekend will give a great opportunity for your child to complete the work.  Please remember that students were dismissed today at 10:45 am and will not have school on Monday.

Have a great long weekend,

Heather and Julie

School News
Band Field Trip:  Both the 7th and 8th grade band students will be traveling  to Hoffman High School on Wednesday, February 21 from 9:00 am – 10:45 am for rehearsal.

8th Grade Graduation:

As we approach spring, we wanted to provide an update on the eighth-grade graduation ceremony. We are excited to announce that this year’s event will be held from 8:30 am to 9:20 am on Sunday, June 2, 2024 at Wintrust Field, also known as the Schaumburg Boomers Stadium.

In order to accommodate all families, we will be limiting each family to six tickets. Students will sit on the field with their classmates, while families will sit in the stands. In the event of rain, we will hold our graduation ceremony on Monday, June 3, at 8:30 pm at Hoffman High School. Either way, the last day of school for eighth-grade students will be Friday, May 31. District 211 summer school classes start on June 3 and we want to ensure our eighth-graders can participate in those classes.

A livestream of the event will be posted to the District 54 YouTube Channel for individuals who are unable to be there that day. All students’ names will be read during the ceremony, whether or not they attend.

In order to create a memorable experience, we would like to start by asking you to complete this quick Graduation Ceremony Survey by Monday, April 1, 2024, to determine which students will be participating and how many tickets you will need.

If your child is participating in the ceremony at Wintrust Field, they will be asked to order a gown in our school colors. The Graduation Ceremony Survey will also ask for your child’s height, so we can order the correct size gown.

Thank you for your quick response to this survey.  Graduation Survey

Bridging the Gap

Hoffman Estates High School is providing an exciting opportunity for 8th graders who will be attending Hoffman Estates High School next year, called BRIDGING THE GAP.  Students can sign up for Bridging the Gap and get a closer, more in depth view of what to expect in high school. High school students and faculty will share information, give a tour, and answer questions that your child might have regarding high school.

Students can pick one date to attend Bridging the Gap at Hoffman Estates High School–March 12 and March 13.  There are only 94 spots available (47 each day).  Permissions slips will be handed out on Tuesday, February 20 with all the details.  Please return the form as soon as possible as spots fill quickly.

Eisenhower Yearbook:

Yearbooks are now on sale for $25.  Beginning January 27th, the price will be raised to $30.  To take advantage of the lower cost, have your child use the Yearbook Link  to order.  Use the classroom code eog4wfw .  Announcements will also go out to our students through morning announcements on how to join the Google Classroom to order.

Attendance:  If your child is staying home, please make sure to call our school office by 8:00 am.  Please call 847-357- 5502.  Students who are not called in are marked unexcused.

Krispy Kreme Fundraiser

It’s that time of year again – time to buy Krispy Kreme donuts for Ike! Purchase one dozen glazed donuts for $15 and the Ike PTA will receive $7.50. Our fundraising site will be live for two more weeks. Even though the website says the closest Krispy Kreme is Elk Grove Village, we know that the Amazon Fresh store in Schaumburg has a Krispy Kreme location that will accept the voucher. Fresh donuts are only 5 minutes away!

 Hot Lunch

Our next Hot Lunch is being served on February 23rd from Frato’s. Orders are now closed for February, but you can order for the remainder of the school year on our website now.

 February PTA Meeting

Our February meeting will be in the Teacher’s Lounge on Tuesday, February 20th at 6:30pm. Hope to see you there!

 NO Nacho days in March

We will be taking the month of March off from having nachos available for purchase at lunch. Please have your student plan accordingly.

 Membership

Thank you to all the parents who have already joined the PTA this year – we appreciate you so much! Joining the PTA does not mean you have to volunteer (although we’d love the help). Simply becoming a member also helps support the PTA in our mission to help the school and your students. Consider becoming a member by purchasing a membership in our online store. Memberships are only $8 and are open to any parent, guardian, staff member or community member.  **Special note: If your child wants to apply for a summer camp scholarship, you must be a PTA member so join now!**

Speech Contest

We are excited to begin preparing for the 12th Annual Spanish Speech Contest on May 2, 2024. This week, we have sent communication about the contest to families and students. In order to further promote the event, we hoped that you would once again be able to invite principals to include a brief blurb about the event in their newsletters, and to feature the Spanish Speech Contest on morning announcements. Here is the District 54 Spanish Speech Contest website. Here is an example of a blurb to include:

Multicultural Event 2024 – Performers Needed!

Each year the Department of Language and Culture, along with the Schaumburg Park District, presents a Multicultural Event. The 2024 event will take place on Saturday, March 2, at the Community Recreation Center (CRC) and will showcase the diversity represented by the students of District 54. During the event, student groups have the opportunity to give performances that reflect various cultures. If your student is interested in participating, please complete the Performance Interest Form by December 6th. You will be notified whether or not your performance has been chosen to participate by email by December 13th.

Volunteers Needed for Multicultural Event

Each year, the Department of Language and Culture, along with the Schaumburg Park District, presents a Multicultural Event that showcases the diversity represented by the students of District 54. One of the highlights of the event is the opportunity for students and their families to learn about other cultures by playing games, completing crafts, and participating in other activities. We are looking for families who are interested in volunteering to plan and facilitate an activity that represents their culture at this year’s event on Saturday, March 2, 2024. If you are interested in volunteering, please complete an Activity Volunteer Interest Form by January 26, 2024. We will also be hosting an informational meeting on Monday, January 22nd at 3:45 p.m. at Mead Jr. High.

No Food Deliveries Allowed

With a focus on student and staff safety, District 54 will not allow food delivery services (including, but not limited to, GrubHub, DoorDash, and local restaurants) to our schools. We will continue to have hot lunch days, which are planned events, organized and supervised by school or PTA volunteers. However, we will no longer accept other outside food deliveries to keep our schools secure.

District 54 Virtual Backpack

District 54 shares information about community events with our students and families through our Virtual Backpack.  We know that parents are interested in extracurricular activities. At the same time, we don’t want the homework, letters from the teachers, school news and other important district information to get lost among the countless other pieces of paper in our students’ backpacks.  Please click here for additional information.
