Phone Calls for School Closings
Last year the Federal Communications Commission had changed its regulations and would no longer allow us to call home when school was closed for weather unless given permission. We sent instructions about logging in to the School Messenger Notification System’s InfoCenter to update your phone permissions. Well the FCC regulations have changed once again.
Under the revised regulations, the FCC recognizes a weather-related closing (such as a snow day) as an emergency. Therefore, District 54 will once again be calling parents and staff members if we were to close for a snow day. We have reset the SchoolMessenger settings to make this the default setting.
