Language Arts

Two letter grades will be given in language arts for each trimester.  One grade will be given for reading achievement & one for writing/communication achievement. 

Grades include all of the following components:

          READING ACHIEVEMENT

          READING COMPREHENSION: (monthly book project comprehension, gold reading skills sheets, reading independent practice, etc.)

          WORD ANALYSIS/VOCABULARY (context practice, word patterns,  affixes, etc.)

          LITERACY ELEMENTS & WORKS (guided reading group work)

          FLUENCY (guided reading group participation)

WRITING/COMMUNICATION ACHIEVEMENT

         WRITTEN COMPOSITION  (monthly book projects writing quality, journaling, introduction practice, etc.)

          WRITING CONVENTIONS (grammar, spelling, etc.)

          LISTENING & SPEAKING (presentations, participation, etc.)

          INFORMATION PROCESSING (recall practice, research, etc.)
