Due to changes in Board Policy effective February 2008 an annual renewal of parental permission for internet, email and district network will be included on your child’s registration form for the upcoming school year in the spring of 2012. Failure to sign and return these documents by the deadline date will deny your child’s access to the internet, email and district network for the 2012-2013 school year and he/she will not be able to access the above until the new registration and internet forms are returned.

8th Grade Graduation

The 8th grade graduation will be on Monday, June 4th at 7:00PM at Hoffman Estates High School.  Each family will receive 6 tickets to attend the graduation at Hoffman High School.  Also, as noted in the Parent/ Student Handbook, 8th graders must complete all homework to participate in the graduation ceremony. Graduation Requirements-Each junior high school holds a graduation ceremony for eighth grade students, usually in early June. The exact date is set by the Board of Education in the early spring. All eighth grade graduates are required to rent gowns for the ceremony. In order for an eighth grade student to participate in the graduation ceremony, the student must complete all academic assignments one
week prior to the graduation ceremony. It will be the student’s responsibility to turn in all late or missing assignments. Failure to turn in even one assignment will cause the student to be excluded from the graduation ceremony. Extreme inappropriate behavior could also cause a student to be excluded from the graduation ceremony at the discretion of the school administrators.

March News!

Posted Friday, February 24th, 2012 by KPrusko

Dear Community,

As March approaches, I wanted to share a few highlights with you.

ISAT TESTING

We will be giving your child state-required achievement tests March 5-March 14.  Students in grades seventh and eighth will be tested in reading and mathematics. Students in grade seven will also be tested in science.  The tests are a part of the Illinois Standards Achievement Test (ISAT) program and are being given to all eligible students.  The results of the state tests will be reported to you on the School Report Card by the end of October 2012, along with information about your child’s performance.
You can help your student do his/her best on the test by:

1.  Making sure, if possible, that your student attends school on the days of testing.

2.  making sure your student gets a good night’s sleep the night before testing;

3.  providing a nutritional breakfast on the mornings of testing;

4.  reminding your student to ask the teacher questions if he/she does notunderstand the test direction;

5.  letting your student know that you are confident in his/her ability to do his/her best;

6.  advising your student not to worry about the test — just to do the best he/she can.

Please call your student’s teacher if you want additional information or have further questions about these tests. Practice tests can be found at: http://www.isbe.net/assessment/htmls/sample_books.htm
